How to connect a payment provider to your Modulus store
Updated Available on every plan
Short answer
In Modulus you connect an existing payment provider from the Payments screen, under "I already have a processing company": pick Cardcom, Grow, PayPlus, Hyp, or Pelecard, enter your account details, and Modulus checks the connection before saving it. Once connected, shoppers pay in your store by credit card and Bit, and the money reaches you through the provider.
Before you start
- An active account with one of the providers: Cardcom, Grow, PayPlus, Hyp, or Pelecard.
- The connection details the provider gave you (listed per provider in the table below).
- Admin access to the store: only store admins can change payment methods.
Connect an existing provider
Step 1: Open the Payments screen
Where: Sales›Payments
If the store has no payments set up yet, you see "How will customers pay you?". If you already have a payment method, click "Add a payment method", then "Connect an existing account".
Step 2: Choose "I already have a processing company"
Where: I already have a processing company›Continue
Step 3: Fill in your business details, if asked
If the store’s business details are incomplete, you see "Who’s getting paid?": business type, business number, legal name, phone and address. They’re saved for invoices too.
Step 4: Pick your provider
On "Which processing company do you have?", click your provider’s logo.
Step 5: Enter your account details and click "Connect"
Where: Connect
Modulus checks the details with the provider before saving them: it opens a ₪1 payment page, and nobody is charged. If the check fails you see "We couldn’t connect with these details", and "Technical details" shows the provider’s message. Nothing is saved until the check passes.
Step 6: You’re connected
You see "Cardcom is connected" (with your provider’s name), and shoppers can pay in your store. From there, "Go to payment methods".
Which details each provider needs
| Provider | Fields to fill in |
|---|---|
| Cardcom | Terminal number; API username; API password |
| Grow | User ID; Payment page code |
| PayPlus | API key; Secret key; Payment page UID |
| Hyp | Terminal number; Merchant ID; Username; Password; Relay URL |
| Pelecard | Terminal; Username; Password |
One active provider at a time
The provider you connect becomes the store’s only active one, and any provider connected before it is turned off. To switch: Payments → "Switch company", then connect the new one with the same steps.
What shoppers see at checkout
Once connected, checkout offers "Credit card" and "Bit": all five providers come with Bit turned on. Shoppers pay on the provider’s payment page, and the order is marked paid when the payment is confirmed. If an invoicing service is connected, the order gets an invoice automatically. More about Bit
Don’t have a payment provider?
You can start without one, using "Direct payment to you" on the Payments screen:
- Bit or PayBox to your phone number
- Bank transfer
- Cash
- Phone order
The money doesn’t pass through Modulus: shoppers see how to pay, and you confirm each payment that arrives with "I got the payment". An unpaid order is cancelled automatically and its stock returned after a number of days you choose (1 to 14, 3 by default).
Frequently asked questions
Which payment providers can I connect to Modulus?
You can connect Cardcom, Grow, PayPlus, Hyp, and Pelecard. Tranzila isn’t supported for now, because its payments can’t be verified automatically.
Do I need a paid plan to connect a payment provider?
No. You can connect a provider on the Free plan. To put the store live and take real orders you need a paid plan. What going live needs
Can I connect two payment providers at once?
No. One provider is active at a time, and connecting a new one turns off the previous one.
How do I refund a customer?
Make the refund itself with your payment provider. Then set the order’s status in Modulus to "Refunded": the customer gets an email, and if an invoicing service is connected a credit invoice is issued. The status alone doesn’t return money. Credit invoices
Why did the connection fail?
Usually one of the details doesn’t match what the provider expects (terminal number, username or key). Open "Technical details" on the connect screen to see what the provider returned, and check the details with them.
